"I feel the only limits in any production should only be those of your creative self," says Biscardi. "Don't tell me you can't do something because you don't have a certain tool. Use the most important tool you have, your brain." Walter spoke of his past experiences whereby looks and camera angles were achieved in the field by being creative. In one example he showed how the use of HVAC piping and contruction worklights provided the perfect spotlights for a scene.
On the post production side, there are many looks and effects that can be achieved, but you might have to work a bit extra to get there. "If you really want a look or a feel, you might need to take 3, 4, even 10 steps to get there if you don't have the exact tool you really need. But just think about where you're trying to go and work within the limitations of your tools. You'll get there eventually."
In addition, Walter presented the Medea G-RAID Firewire 800 harddrive unit to the group. He was able to demonstrate true 8bit and 10bit uncompressed video playback and editing via an Apple Powerbook 17" laptop computer. "I've long supported Medea products and they asked if I would show the product to the group and I was happy to oblige. Overall it was a very fun experience and I look forward to my next speaking engagement!"
