| Biscardi Creative Media has added AVID Project import to Final Cut Pro. This brings the Producer another level of flexibility in project handling where a project can be started on an AVID system and seamlessly moved to a Final Cut Pro system, without even the need to recapture media. "This is a tremendous addition to our Post Production services as it allows those producers who prefer to cut in AVID the ability to offline their projects on that platform and then finish on an uncompressed SD / HDTV Final Cut Pro system." said Walter Biscardi, Jr. AVID Symphony and HD suites generally go for a higher hourly / daily rate than BCM's 10bit uncompressed SD / HD suites. So by offering the ability to transfer a project completely intact to Final Cut Pro, we can offer the producer much more flexibility in Post. "We're using the procedure right now on a project that was finished in standard def on an Adrenaline system and then was brought to Biscardi Creative to re-cut the show in Hi Def. The AVID editor exported a series of OMF files, which we then translated into Final Cut Pro project files." notes Biscardi. The system does not use EDL's which are notorious for problems when trying to move from one platform to the other. The entire project and all the timelines open up as a normal Final Cut Pro project, including the media if desired. For Biscardi, the ability to move media from one system to the other was the clincher. "It's the media transfer that really sold us. This allows any Producer to offline an SD project and we can finish it here without the need to do any re-capturing." |
