BISCARDI CREATIVE MEDIA signs blanket music licensing deal with Warner-Chappell.
Biscardi Creative Media (BCM) announces today the addition of the Warner-Chappell music library to our toolbox. The most significant element of the deal is a blanket license that allows BCM to charge one flat rate fee for music in projects with a lot of flexibility in how the work is distributed.
“We’ve been in discussions with Warner-Chappell for over a year to work out something that not only makes sense financially for our clients, but gives a lot of flexibility in how projects are delivered,” notes BCM Principal Walter Biscardi, Jr. “What we’ve worked out is one of the best licensing deals I’ve ever seen.”
Traditionally music rights have to be negotiated per project with considerations for project distribution, how many tracks of music, how much music appears in the show and so on. This new deal simplifies the entire process. BCM’s blanket license allows the company to charge a flat fee that encompasses, in part:
A three year annual blanket license that will cover all your needs with the following clearances: National Broadcast, Non-broadcast Corporate, Internet, and Film Festival/Limited Release.
Digital search and download access to 700-800 discs worth of music.
“I’ve never seen a deal that included National Broadcasting rights for a flat fee and internet distribution all rolled into one. This means our clients can just go pick whatever music they want, as much music as they want and not have to worry about, ‘well we only have budget for 10 songs so one of them is going to have to be cut.‘ It means we can all be that much more creative and the music selection process is actually going to be fun, rather than frustrating and limiting.”
While the deal covers the approx. 800 discs worth of music at a time, BCM has the flexibility to swap out libraries from time to time allowing the company to keep the music library fresh as the years go on.
